Start Here: Begin Your Mindful Drawing Journey

Welcome to Y Steinberg Art + Design Studio.

If you’re new to mindful drawing or the Zentangle method, this page will guide you through the basics, supplies, and ways to begin drawing with us.

What Is Mindful Drawing?

Mindful drawing is a relaxing creative practice where simple patterns are drawn one line at a time. Many people discover they can create beautiful artwork even if they have never drawn before.
In my teaching, we often begin with the Zentangle Method, a structured approach that helps beginners relax, focus, and experience immediate success.

A First Taste of Mindful Drawing

In this short demonstration, I show three ways to create a simple heart bookmark using mindful drawing patterns.

Mindful drawing is less about artistic skill and more about slowing down, enjoying the process, and discovering the creativity that is already within you.

Supplies to get Started

The beautiful thing about mindful drawing is that you only need a few simple tools to begin. Many people start with supplies they already have at home.
  • Black pen (Micron 01 or similar)
  • Graphite Pencil
  • Paper or a small drawing tile
  • Blending stump (optional)

That's all you need to get started!
