Sometimes joy is found in the smallest moments. In this month’s Community Tangle, we’ll create a beautiful Zentangle® tile inspired by life’s little moments of joy. Beginning with a few simple organic shapes, we’ll fill each shape with beginner-friendly tangles creating a peaceful composition one deliberate stroke at a time.
The Problem
Many beginning artists—and even experienced ones—find themselves holding the pen too tightly. We worry about making mistakes, planning every detail, or creating something "good enough." Instead of enjoying the creative process, we become focused on the finished result.
What if creativity didn't begin with a perfect plan?
What if a few simple circles could become the framework that helps you relax, let go, and trust the next stroke?
Our Promise
In Little Moments of Joy, you'll discover how simple circles can become the starting point for a beautiful Zentangle® composition.
Working on a larger 6 × 6-inch tile, we'll begin by drawing a handful of spontaneous circles. Each circle becomes a welcoming space for a beginner-friendly Zentangle pattern, allowing the design to grow naturally—one deliberate stroke at a time.
You'll experience how a simple structure creates creative freedom. There is no need to know what the finished tile will look like before you begin. Instead, you'll learn to trust the process, enjoy the rhythm of drawing, and watch your composition unfold with ease.
We'll complete the tile with graphite shading to add depth and dimension. If you wish, you can personalize your artwork with colored pencil after the drawing is complete.
You'll leave with more than a finished piece of art. You'll leave with a renewed sense of confidence, a calmer approach to creativity, and the joyful reminder that beautiful things often emerge one simple step at a time.
What is Community Tangle?
A Community Tangle is a welcoming, guided drawing session where we come together to explore Zentangle-inspired patterns in a relaxed and supportive environment. It’s about creativity, connection, and enjoying the process—one stroke at a time.
This workshop is open to all levels—no experience needed. Just bring a pen, pencil, and paper, and enjoy the calming rhythm of drawing.
